Allan and Zoe at London Pride 2015

At London Pride this year, I was lucky enough to meet Zoe Davis. We were both on the Cancer is a Drag Pride Bus, I was there supporting CIAD and Zoe was there filming for her documentary FIERCE! We soon got chatting about sharing the same last name and all things FIERCE! Zoe even convinced me to talk on camera for a bit, not that I ever need much convincing! It was the day after Marriage Equality had been passed in the US and the mood was jubilant. The bus was filled with drag queens, it was an amazing day. I offered my services to Zoe then and there, I wanted to help make this groundbreaking documentary. Zoe is now trying to raise funds to complete this project through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

FIERCE! The Movie – Press Release

We’re delighted to announce “FIERCE! The Movie” – a powerful film following British drag queens and kings on a journey to the world’s first International Drag Festival in Austin, Texas during an unexpectedly pivotal year for LGBT equality. Nothing could prepare the filmmakers for the events that were about to unfold on June 26 2015 – the day that US Supreme Court legalised same-sex marriage in all 50 states across America. This beautiful and heartfelt documentary explores equality, identity, and that now historic day that “love won”.

Throughout history, drag artists have been at the forefront of the fight for equality; tirelessly campaigning for the rights of LGBT people right back since the start – the Stonewall riots in New York in 1969 – where the liberation of the LGBT community began, with the formation of activist organisations, support groups and the first ever Gay Pride marches.

FIERCE! The Movie follows five unique individuals, each on a personal journey to liberate and normalise their lifestyles and careers in drag – using performance and humour to break through prejudice as they campaign for the recognition and equality their community deserves.

IT’S TIME FOR THEIR STORY TO BE IN THIS
PIVOTAL PIECE OF FILMAKING.

However, before the film can be made and the stories told, the filmmakers and the LGBT community need your help. That’s why they’ve launched this fabulously fierce Indiegogo campaign, featuring the film’s colourful characters plus a host of exciting rewards.

The goal of the project is to raise £15,000. Funds raised will go toward production costs to finish the film – ensuring the dedicated crew and extended team are paid for their incredible hard-work, creativity and commitment.
